Designed as part of The Citizens Foundation’s landmark school project, the goal was to create a financially efficient and sustainable landmark project which can be used as a model for other school in the area.
Spatially, the design revolves around a central courtyard/ play field which acts as the main social space for the children, as well as helping maintain
airflow within the building.
In-line with the theme of efficiency, the architecture attempts to push humble materials such as brick and concrete to new heights by using them to
create perforations and louvers in what would otherwise have been solid blocks.
The design is environmentally sustainable as well, using locally sourced materials, natural ventilation and rainwater harvesting. Cavity walls with
insulation, roof and frost insulation have also been incorporated. Green and sustainable building features are employed to meet international standards.
