NATIONAL TEXTILE UNIVERSITY
Won in a national competition which called for 3 separate buildings in the area of the National Textile University in Faisalabad. The 3 buildings designed were the Academic Block, Research Block and the Administration Block.
Conceptually, in terms of articulation and shading the design takes cues from buildings found in Punjab and Sindh.
The design vocabulary is rooted in the vernacular, based on traditional elements such as brick cladding and courtyard elements which provide cooling and social spaces while at the same time, link the scheme to the collective memory of the region.
Thus rooted in the context but modern, the scheme progresses the institutional vernacular of the region in a sustainable and respectful way.
